It is not recommended in cases of altered kidney function (oxalic and uric urinary lithiasis), kidney failure, and iron storage disorders (thalassemia, hemochromatosis). Ascorbic acid in high concentrations interferes with several laboratory tests (glucose, uric acid, creatinine, inorganic phosphates). Such concentrations can be reached in the urine after high doses. Also, occult blood tests in stool may yield false negative results after large doses. Promotes the absorption of Iron from the diet.
